Overnight hospital stays are being reduced across Alicante Province with over 28 thousand operations being carried out during the first five months of 2016, where the patient can go home within a matter of hours.

Health department figures show that an overnight hospital stay costs 341 euros per patient and that means that over nine million euros have been saved so far this year until the end of May. The percentage of such “out-patient” operations now account for 60 percent of all operations, with Alicante General Hospital performing the most at just over five thousand.
