A survey commissioned by Torrevieja council says that Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas has the most road accidents on it in the city, as well as the largest count of speeding motorists.
Approximately 197,000 vehicles a day use Torrevieja’s roads according to a newly produced transport plan, calculated using figures supplied by the local police. The city has an annual average of thirteen-hundred road accidents per year, resulting in 270 injuries.
Statistically, Avenida de las Cortes Valencianas, was the most dangerous road, with over a four year period, 29 people being injured using it, including one fatality. Thirty percent of drivers ignored speed restrictions on the road and also on the adjoining Avenida de Alfred Nobel-Carretera del Torrejón.
