Officers from the Local Police in Seville arrested a 34-year-old man for crimes against road safety, after he caused a car crash in which 2 women were injured on Sunday evening.
At first, the driver denied any kind of responsibility for the crash, which occurred in the Pino Montano area, and fled the scene and so the police were called to attend.
Several officers who were on duty for a special event attended, along with an ambulance, to find the man return five minutes later, having been warned by his wife to do so.
The officers first became suspicious when the wife then claimed that she was driving the vehicle, and were becoming increasingly concerned by the physical characteristics presented to them. The man was showing signs of intoxication and was becoming more and more agitated. He also had his right leg in plaster.
The officers conducted a breathalyser test and found him to be twice over the legal limit. The investigation at the scene revealed that excessive speed was the most likely initial cause of the crash, with the victim´s vehicle being shunted around 30 metres in the road. The two women in the vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The conclusion of the investigation against the driver confirmed that excessive alcohol, having his leg in plaster and not holding a valid licence all contributed to the crash which now sees him before a judge facing criminal charges.
