Child in Alicante Balcony Rescue

Alicante City firefighters rescued a five-year-old girl on Wednesday evening, who ended up to the window ledge of her seventh floor flat after being left home alone.

The child had been left sleeping alone in the flat when her mother “popped out” to pick up her boyfriend from a gym. The girl climbed out of a window after waking up in the flat, after feeling scared that she was on her own.

She was spotted balancing on a narrow ledge by people in the Plaza de los Luceros, who immediately called emergency services. A fire engine quickly arrived at the apartment block, and two fire-fighters were raised in a rescue basket to save the youngster.
