The Guardia Civil are looking into a suspected human trafficking route after discovering two trucks from the Murcia region carrying Iraqi refugees, with the journeys set to end in Britain.
Officers found eight Iraqis of Kurdish ethnicity, including four children, in the back of a refrigerated truck on the A-23 highway near the town of Teruel last Friday. The vehicle belonged to the La Mosca transportation company based in Molina de Segura.
The lorry was located a few kilometres from where the Guardia had discovered another truck, a few weeks earlier, illegally transporting a Kurdish family of two adults and four children. The authorities said both trucks were heading toward Britain after departing from Murcia.
Both drivers were arrested on charges of human trafficking.
