A 15-strong gang of home burglars that struck in Orihuela and Torrevieja, as well as in Alicante, Murcia, and Cartagena, have been arrested by the National Police.
Authorities say the investigation that was launched in the middle of last year is still open,
with those detained aged between 27 and 40 and of Cuban, Moroccan, Romanian, and
Spanish nationalities.
Stolen items would then be shipped over to Morocco, with five arrests made in February
after the crooks struck at a Cartagena address and then looked to pass on some
jewellery to their Moroccan contacts.
Police officers arrested them as the items were being transferred, and then a few days
later, ten more people were detained after a break-in at a property in the Rosales area of
El Palmar.
