The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that the Executive is in a position to affirm that the objective of having 70% of the population vaccinated against the coronavirus by the end of the summer will be met. In this sense, the vaccination process is going to accelerate greatly in the next three months; Sánchez has assured that next week there will already be more people vaccinated with the complete schedule (the two doses) than people who have reported having contracted the virus.

The leader of the Executive has offered a new vaccination calendar that details how the process will be in the next quarter, first, and in the summer, later. The forecast is that “the pace will accelerate in this month of April and each month it will improve the next.” In this way, as Sánchez has advanced, “next week there will be more people vaccinated with the full schedule than the number of people who have reported contagion”; the next key date will be May 3, when, as announced by the president, the number of people vaccinated with the full regimen will amount to 5 million.
The next cross on the calendar is located in the first week of June, since the president has advanced that the number of vaccinated will double in a month, thus reaching the 10 million people who will have received the two doses of the vaccine against covid-19.
The vaccination rate will continue to grow during June, according to Sánchez, and the goal is that on June 14 there will be 15 million vaccinated, that is, five million more than in the first week of the month. The last key date of this next quarter of the vaccination calendar is July 19; The leader of the Executive has assured that by then it is expected that there will be 25 million people vaccinated with the complete schedule.
The general objective is that, as the Government had already advanced, by the end of August 70% of the population is vaccinated: “We will achieve that 33 million people are vaccinated by the end of August,” the President of the Government has said in this regard. .
Sánchez has advanced this forecast of the vaccination schedule based on the number of doses that, as explained by the president, Spain will receive in the coming months, in addition to the committed vaccines. The leader of the Executive has said that “in total we have contracted more than 87 million doses between April and September. This ensures that any compatriot who wishes will be vaccinated in this period”, so, in the words of the leader of the Executive, in September, Spain would be in a position to have administered vaccines to practically 100% of the population.
The president has also explained that compliance with this vaccination schedule is the “most prudent and conservative scenario” handled by the Executive, which is why he has left the door open for the rate of administration of the vaccine to be even greater than the expected one.
“We are facing the beginning of the end of the pandemic. Science not only overwhelms the obstacles it finds ahead, but also takes advantage of them to improve itself. Spain already has an exit horizon; at all times we have affirmed that we can only recover normality thanks to vaccination, and we have already begun to do so, “he said.
“We are going to join all our forces to vaccinate without rest. Vaccination is the main occupation of the Government. Each vaccinated person is a safe life and it is the shortest way to reactivate our country,” Sánchez concluded.
