The Provincial Court of Murcia has sentenced a man to eight years in prison and five years of probation, after he tried to murder his mother by stabbing her with a kitchen knife in the family home, located in the Murcian capital.

The defendant admitted the facts that appeared in the prosecution’s indictment, according to which the incident occurred in August 2019, when the defendant, after an argument with his mother, went to the kitchen and took a knife.
He then stabbed her several times in different parts of her body, causing injuries that took 124 days to heal. The sentence also states that in an attempt to stop him stabbing her, the mother managed to get out to the landing of the stairs to ask for help, but the defendant, a 50-year-old man, managed to force her into the house, where he tried to suffocate her.
The attack ended when the police entered the house after forcing the door and proceeded to arrest the accused.
