Aena’s airports in the Valencian Community received 133,295 travellers during the month of March, an increase of almost 60% compared to the figure registered in February, when between Manises and Alicante-Elche they barely added 83,000 visitors.
By provinces, Valencia registered 71,357 users in March, 69.8% less than in 2020 and 89.3% less than in 2019, according to the summary provided by Aena. Alicante remained at 61,938 and presents the greatest decline among the main Spanish airports, falling almost 87% from the 473,098 travellers received in the previous year and 94% if the comparison is extended to 2019.
Regarding operations by airline, Air Nostrum remains the national leader, a position it has held since the beginning of the year due to public service flights, inter-islands in the Balearic Islands and routes where it is the only operator present. The Valencian company carried out 5,663 operations during March, more than 1,500 more than the second on the list, Binter Canarias, which also gains positions for managing island flights in the Canary Islands. So far this year, Air Nostrum has exceeded 15,000 flights compared to 10,000 for Iberia and 6,500 for Ryanair.
