Officers from the National Police have arrested a couple, in the Alicante town of Elda, who ran an aesthetic centre and who, allegedly, sexually abused their clients, whom they recorded naked and receiving treatments. 83 victims have been identified, some of them minors, and they are also charged with various crimes of discovery and disclosure of secrets as well as production of child pornography.
The police investigation has been carried out for several months thanks to international cooperation in the fight against the sexual exploitation of minors through information and communication technologies. Thus, from the United States Embassy in Madrid, the agents were informed about the existence of connections in Spain from which content containing child pornography material was being distributed over the Internet. According to these data, a user uploaded several files to a platform in which minors who were being victims of sexual abuse appeared.
Once the ownership of the connections had been identified, the agents entered and searched the residence of the investigated person, finding a large number of files related to the sexual exploitation of minors. Some of these files turned out to be of a particularly degrading nature for the victims.
Three hard drives were found with more than 500 recordings with a hidden camera, mainly women and adolescent girls who came to the clinic to receive a hair removal treatment. All this led to the arrest of the couple for discovery and revelation of secrets. Additionally, the man is charged with a crime of possession and distribution of child pornography. During the home search, various electronic materials were intervened for forensic analysis and, thus, to be able to determine the scope of the detainees’ actions.
After an arduous and extensive task of analysing the files, it has been possible to identify 83 victims, including minors, some of them being victims of sexual abuse. In most cases, the files are videos of clients naked from the waist down receiving waxing treatment in the genital area.
The detainees had several hidden cameras placed in the rooms of the facility to make two types of recordings. In the first place with overhead vision, by placing a hidden video camera in a ventilation grille located on the ceiling of the aesthetic clinic room, and, on the other hand, with a detailed frontal view of the victims’ genitalia. For this they used a “spy camera pen” that they placed as close as possible on the stretcher where the clients lay, without them noticing.
From the detailed analysis of the hundreds of recordings, each approximately five hours long, it has been shown that some of the victims were also victims of sexual abuse, since the detainee massaged the genitals for several minutes, even reaching carnal access with the excuse of the aesthetic treatment that the victim was undergoing.
Researchers have located recordings since 2012, when the woman began working at the clinic, and of other clients who continued to be cared for in their own homes when the clinic closed. Those arrested are charged with alleged crimes of sexual abuse; production, distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, as well as discovery and disclosure of secrets.
