72% of people over 60 years old in Spain have had at least one dose of vaccine against COVID-19, a percentage that rises to 80% in the case of people between 70 and 79 years old.
This was highlighted by the Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, after the visit she made this Monday to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA), accompanied by the Minister of Health, Pablo Ignacio Fernández Muñiz; the manager of the Health Service of the Principality of Asturias (SESPA), Concepción Saavedra and the manager of the Health Area IV, Luis Hevia.
The Minister of Health recalled the priority that immunisation of the elderly represents for all health authorities in our country, as established in the Vaccination Strategy approved within the SNS Interterritorial Council. In this sense, she recalled that the objective at this time is to accelerate the vaccination process among those over 60 years of age.
“There are already more than 16.3 million inoculated doses,” said Darias, who also emphasized the record of serums administered in a single day that was achieved last Friday, with a total of 504,000.
Darias made these statements after visiting the AutoVAC and other points of the vaccination device against COVID-19 of the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA), before receiving a new shipment of vaccines from Pfizer / BioNTech against COVID-19; as part of the more than 1,750,000 of this company that have been distributed among the Autonomous Communities today.
The minister has advanced that the Government of Spain, through the ministries of Health and Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, is going to charter a plane with humanitarian aid to India and more than 100 respirators. Specifically, 10 oxygen concentrators, 47 Zoll respirators, 94 Shangrila respirators will be destined for the Asian country, which will be sent this week to India.
