The National Office for the Fight against Hate Crimes of the Ministry of the Interior held the III Seminar on Hate Crimes, a specialised training session aimed at police units in charge of prevention, investigation and attention to victims in the field of crimes and hate speech.

More than 320 agents of the National Police, the Guardia Civil, the Ertzaintza, the Mossos d’Esquadra and the Foral Police of Navarra have attended the seminar electronically, personnel specialised in the matter and who also carry out work as a link of union between the Security Forces and Bodies and minority groups likely to be victims of hate crimes and discrimination.
With this III Seminar on Hate Crimes, a day that is part of the Action Plan to Fight Hate Crimes and which has been developed under the title ‘A reflection on the improvement in the prevention of hate speech’, It has provided the participating agents with tools and knowledge to identify and detect those manifestations that may contain hate speech and, therefore, constitute criminal offences.
With this objective, theoretical-practical concepts have been addressed in the prevention of hate speech and in the resolution of investigations in social networks, as well as the legal framework that supports it.
Experts on the subject, representatives of service providers in social networks, members of the specialised Prosecutor’s Office, civil institutions related to the control of multimedia content, representatives of bodies related to the assistance and orientation of victims, participated in the seminar. as well as specialists in police investigation from the National Police and the Guardia Civil.
This Seminar has been organised by the National Office for the Fight Against Hate Crimes, dependent on the General Directorate for Coordination and Studies of the Secretary of State for Security.
