The Castles Race returns to Alicante next January

The traditional Carrera de los Castillos, an athletics event whose route joins the fortresses of San Fernando and Santa Bárbara, will once again be held in its two modalities on January 16 in Alicante, as announced by the organisation on Tuesday.

The test, which is promoted by the Alicante Department of Sports and which in this next edition will fulfil its ninth edition, will start at 9 am with the 5-kilometer race, a distance for runners of all levels and with limited demand, since the climb the Castillo de San Fernando will be the only great stumbling block.

Half an hour later the queen test will be held, 10 kilometres long, which will start next to the Rico Pérez stadium.

After ascending to the Castillo de San Fernando, the runners will advance through the main avenues of the city until they climb the hard ramps of the Castillo de Santa Bárbara to, from there, go down again through the centre of Alicante and finish the race at the athletics stadium Joaquin Villar.
