The Ministry of the Interior has acquired eighteen H135 helicopters that will be incorporated into the fleets of the National Police and the Guardia Civil from 2022, when the first two units will be received.

The contract, signed with Airbus Helicopters, is part of a joint and centralised purchasing procedure carried out through the General Directorate of Armament and Material of the Ministry of Defence, which will also acquire eighteen aircraft.

The purchase is the result of the financing authorised by the Council of Ministers on June 29 and the Interdepartmental Collaboration Agreement between the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence for the joint acquisition of light helicopters, signed a month later, on 29 July. Both ministries will collaborate in this program through a joint office made up of staff from the two departments.

The new acquisitions continue with the modernisation and renewal of the operational helicopter fleets in the Ministry of the Interior. The H135 is a light twin-engine equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and all the features required to fulfil the missions entrusted to the State Security Forces and Bodies in matters of surveillance, prevention and patrolling.
