Woman Knocked Down and Killed after Minor Collision

A 28-year-old woman was killed on Tuesday when she was run over by another vehicle whilst she was trying to signal that her vehicle had been involved in a minor collision on the M-40 ring road, in the municipality of Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid).

Having suffered the minor incident, the woman put on her high-visibility vest, and left her vehicle to signal the scene of the collision, when a third vehicle struck her, according to the emergency services.

The fire service had to attend to free the body of the woman, who was trapped under the vehicle, before medical staff could only confirm her death.

An investigation is being carried out by the Guardia Civil, but this sort of incident is precisely the reason why warning triangles are being phased out in Spain, being replaced by flashing orange lights which affix to the highest point of the vehicle, thus reducing the risk of the affected driver having to walk in traffic.
