Another 424 deaths from Covid in Spain, highest since September
Another 424 deaths from Covid have been recorded this week, according to the data published on Friday by the Ministry of Health, bringing the total number of deaths to 118,183.
This weekly death toll is the highest recorded since 11 September last year, when 446 deaths were recorded, and is only one of three occasions the death toll has been over 400 since August, when the method of counting was changed.
In addition, a total of 13,722,677 Covid infections have been confirmed by testing, adding a further 11,426 this week.
Meanwhile, this week, once again, there have been calls for mandatory masks to be removed on public transport, including planes, to which the Government had replied, “soon”, despite the obviously worrying trend in deaths from Covid in Spain.
