Crashed DGT helicopter pilot arrested on drugs charges

The pilot in charge of the DGT helicopter that crashed near Madrid on Sunday has been arrested on drugs charges.

Although an investigation is being carried out to determine the cause of the crash, the pilot was arrested after testing positive for cocaine and amphetamines.

The pilot was subsequently arrested and is accused of a crime against air safety.

Luckily, there were no fatalities in the crash, but his companion during the flight, a DGT official and camera operator, was also injured while they were trying to carry out an emergency landing whilst engaged in a mission monitoring the roads for traffic offences.
