What is the average cost of a wedding in Spain in 2023
Of course, during the height of the Covid pandemic, the very idea of a wedding in Spain declined considerably, but the sector has seen considerable growth in 2022, which is continuing into 2023, both in terms of the number of weddings taking place, and the average cost.
According to the ‘bodas.net’ portal, in their latest survey, the average cost of a wedding in Spain is around 20,500 euro.
Breakdown of Typical Wedding Expenses
How is it possible to spend more than 20,000 euro in a single day? The portal specialised in weddings has broken down the main expenses of the couple and their amount:
- Rented space with own catering: 14,000 euro. Here the entire wedding cover would enter, which includes the appetizer, the typical banquet and open bar
- 550 euro if you want the food trucks and sweet tables, a popular trend right now
- 750 euro for music
- 200 euro for the wedding cake
- 1,950 euro for the marque rental for the after party
- Suits: around 1,000 euro for the groom and around 1,750 for the bridesmaids
- Floral decoration: 600 euro
- Professional photographer: 1,500 euro
The figures are averages based on the responses of what a selection of couples have indicated in the survey what the event has cost them. Actual prices can therefore be much higher, or lower, if you choose to budget better.
To these figures we must also add things like hairdressing, jewellery, transportation of guests or accommodation… and a multitude of other factors that can be added, since each celebration is made to measure.
A curious piece of information from the ‘statista’ portal indicates that Spain is the second country in the world that allocates the most money to weddings, only behind the United States, which according to the portal spends almost 40,000 dollars in this type of event.
Surrounding countries (and with higher salaries) such as France allocate much less, about 16,000 euro, or in the United Kingdom, where they spend less than 20,000 pounds on average.
According to the wedding website, compared to 2019 the average price of a wedding has increased by about 1,000 euro. A rise that is partly due to inflation, but also to the tendency to carry out more “spectacular” weddings, pointed out José Melo, vice president of sales at The Knot Worldwide.
