The Balearic Islands courts will hear evidence from today, Thursday, against a man accused of raping his underage cousin almost 20 years ago, the victim committing suicide in 2018, according to the letter of the Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor asks for nine years in prison for the accused, 44 years old, although he was 26 when the events occurred on the island of Mallorca.
The Prosecutor’s Office places the abuses in 2004, when the man went to a relative’s mechanical workshop to pick up his cousin, who was then approximately eight years old.
The prosecutor maintains that during the motorcycle ride, the defendant groped the minor, and that once at home he sat her between his legs and groped her more, this time under her clothes. He then allegedly pulled down the girl’s pants and raped her.
Continuing with the accusation, after about three days, he invited her to his house to play the video console, and once on the sofa he forced the child to perform touching and other practices.
The Prosecutor’s Office maintains that the man took advantage of his family relationship and the young age of the minor, who “could not react, deny or tell other people.”
The victim committed suicide in 2018 at the age of 22.
The Prosecutor’s Office requests compensation of 25,000 euro for the heirs.
