The courts in Malaga will hear evidence from today, Wednesday, against a man accused of allegedly trying to end the life of his ex-partner in a fight in which they both attacked each other, after she had left the relationship a few days before. Thus, the Prosecutor is asking for a sentence of 14 years in prison be imposed on the defendant and one year in prison on the woman.
The events occurred in June 2021. According to the initial conclusions of the prosecutor, the man waited for the victim after work to speak with her and ask her for another chance, because she had ended the relationship. Although she initially refused to talk, she finally agreed.
Both got into the woman’s car, who stopped the vehicle, at which point, the public prosecution says, “without stating the reason”, allegedly “they attacked each other, she attacked him with a knife and a screwdriver”, which caused injuries to one eye.
Then, the prosecutor’s initial letter points out, the man “in a state of great aggressiveness” and “surprisingly, stabbed her in the neck with a knife”, whilst she tried to flee from the car, although the man allegedly stabbed her two more times, while insulting and threatening her.
This accusation relates that the woman managed to escape and stop a car, which she got into, but also the defendant, hitting each other at that moment with sharp objects and kicks. Due to these events, both were injured, but she was hospitalised and it took her 30 days to heal.
For the prosecutor, it is a crime of attempted murder, of which he accuses the man, requesting 14 years in prison. In addition, he accuses the woman of a crime of mistreatment, for which she asks for a year in prison.
In both cases, the prohibition of speaking or approaching the other is urged, but for the man, a 15-year separation from the woman is requested, since she has been away from him for three years. It is also requested that the man compensate the woman with 4,500 euro for her injuries and sequelae and that she pays 90 euro to the defendant for her injuries.
