Spanish ports represented in world summit in Rotterdam

The president of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), Joan Calabuig, is in Rotterdam today, representing Spain along with Barcelona, and taking part in the 5th summit of the World Ports Climate Action Program (WPCAP). This initiative is made up of 12 of the most important ports in the world that are committed to decarbonisation and emission reduction projects.

Specifically, in this edition there will be three round tables that will deal with ‘National and Regional Leadership’, ‘Onshore Power’ and ‘Green Corridors’. Joan Calabuig will participate in the first of these panels together with the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam, Allard Castelein; the CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Jacques Vandermeiren; the coordinator of Maritime Industry and Tourism of the German government, Dieter Janecek; and the director of WPCAP and the Port Authority of the Port of Vancouver.

A team of representatives from the APV and the Valenciaport Foundation are also at the meeting, forming part of the working groups that address the challenges and commitments of the Valencian port community in terms of sustainability.

The WPCAP is an initiative to promote and coordinate the efforts of ports to improve the environment, promoting cooperation between all agents in the logistics chain. The Port of Valencia will be part of this select group along with those of Antwerp, Barcelona, ​​Gothenburg, Hamburg, Le Havre, Long Beach, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Rotterdam, Vancouver and Yokohama.
