European consumer confidence in the spotlight this week

The financial week starts without notable macro references in Spain, as attention turns to the eurozone, where the European Commission will publish consumer confidence for May and Eurostat, production under construction for March. Also, on Monday, the OECD brings to light its latest Sovereign Borrowing Outlook. At the corporate level, Ryanair presents results, while Merlin pays a dividend and Mapfre and ArcelorMittal discount.

Spain

The Governor of the Bank of Spain, Pablo Hernández de Cos, will intervene in Círculo Financiero La Caixa.

Merlin Properties pays a final dividend of 0.2420 euro gross per share.

Mapfre discounts a gross dividend of 0.085 euro per share.

ArcelorMittal discounts dividend of $0.22 gross per share.

Eurozone

Eurostat publishes figures for production under construction for March.

The European Commission publishes the consumer confidence for May.

Ireland

Ryanair presents its financial results.

OECD

The OECD publishes its latest Sovereign Borrowing Outlook, which analyses the impact of increased macro and geopolitical uncertainty on sovereign borrowing needs and conditions.

UK

Heathrow security staff hold their latest strike on Thursday.

“Small boats” will be in the headlines again with the release of the UK’s annual net migration figures on Thursday. The current prediction is that the net migration number has already passed 700,000, despite the Conservative´s 2017 manifesto promise to bring that number under 100,000, and despite the ‘taking back control of our borders’ promise of Brexit, as the figures are likely to be double the record numbers recorded before Britain left the EU.

It will also be a solemn day of reflection on Monday for the 10 year anniversary of Lee Rigby´s murder.
