Summer shopping starting to take shape

Shops in the Valencia region are allowed to open again on Sundays from this weekend, remaining possible until the end of the year, and supermarkets are also starting to announce their summer schedules.

In the case of Mercadona, the supermarket chain chaired by Juan Roig, they are first to announce that their summer schedule will start later this month, in more than 330 establishments throughout the most touristic areas of Spain.

The Mercadona summer schedule will apply from June 26 to August 27. During this period, Mercadona will open its stores located in areas with a large tourist influx from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and some of its stores will even open on Sundays and holidays, but with reduced hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is the case of some towns in the Valencian Community, Andalusia, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands.

On the other hand, it must be taken into account that some Mercadona stores will be closed during the holidays of certain autonomous communities, such as:

– On Saturday, June 24, the festival of San Juan, it will close in Catalonia and the Valencian Community.

– On Tuesday, July 25, the day of Santiago Apóstol, it will close in Navarra, the Basque Country, Galicia and the Community of Madrid.

– On Tuesday, August 15, the day of the Assumption of the Virgin or Virgen de la Paloma, it will close in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands and Castilla y León.

In any case, if you are clear about the possible time changes that your nearest Mercadona may experience, you can clear up your doubts by consulting the Mercadona shop search engine provided at this link. You only need to enter the postal code of the municipality in which you are located.

On the occasion of the summer campaign, the Valencian company will also incorporate 7,000 workers to respond to the arrival of tourists and maintain the service during the vacations of the rest of the staff.

The new job offers are available on the Mercadona job portal, where the conditions of the position and the initial remuneration of 1,507 euro per month gross are described. In addition, all workers enjoy two full days off. Regarding the requirements, previous experience is not required, since all employees receive specific training adapted to each position, it is enough to have Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO).
