The 1st Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia will begin to hear evidence from today, Monday, against a man accused of making more than 400 graffiti-type paintings with Nazi symbols on the walls of various buildings, both public and private, in the municipality of Carcaixent.
The events occurred between 2017 and 2019 when, according to the public prosecution, the defendant painted messages such as “communist pigs”, “OI Nazis” and “La Ribera skins”, among others.
In most cases the affected walls were required to be cleaned, repaired, and repainted. The council estimates that the damage to municipal property exceeds 7,900 euro.
The Prosecutor’s Office adds that, in February 2019, the defendant was surprised by the Local Police while placing stickers with similar messages on traffic signs, litter bins and other town hall property.
The public prosecution requests for the defendant a sentence of 3 years in prison for a continuous crime of damages with the aggravating circumstance of committing the crime for racist, anti-Semitic or other kinds of discrimination related to ideology.
