Passengers hoping to fly on Vueling between Asturias and Mallorca are beginning to resume their journeys today, after the airline left them stranded at the weekend.
Vueling was forced to cancel two flights that were to connect Mallorca and Asturias on Friday evening. The first was to have transferred some 180 passengers from Mallorca to Asturias, leaving Palma airport at 8:05 p.m. and arriving in Santiago del Monte at 9:50 p.m.
The aircraft should then have taken off with another 180 passengers at 10:30 p.m. from the Principality bound for the island. The company informed passengers hours before via email that, for “operational reasons”, both flights would have to be cancelled, on the day when the summer holiday season officially starts in Spain.
The affected passengers were offered an alternative. The first option was to embark this evening, Monday, at 6:40 p.m., bound for Barcelona and, after spending the night in the city of Barcelona, take a new plane at 7.20 a.m. on Tuesday to arrive in Asturias at 8.55. That is, four days later than expected.
For those wanting to travel to the island, they too were offered a similar replacement, again, arriving on the island on Tuesday.
