The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia will hear evidence from today, Tuesday, against 14 people, including a lawyer from Alzira and a national police officer from the local Immigration Office, accused of being part of a criminal organisation specialised in providing false documentation to citizens of non-EU countries.
This network was specialised, according to the prosecutor, in passing them off as nationals of community countries so that they could request the NIE certificate, which allowed them to work and register with Social Security.
According to the Public Ministry, the gang acted until December 2017. Once they obtained the NIE, the defendants used Temporary Work companies dedicated to the collection of agricultural products that hired citizens despite false identities.
The public prosecution calls for penalties ranging from four to seven years in prison for the continued crimes of aiding illegal immigration, falsifying an official document and the crime of joining a criminal gang.
