Fixed broadband exceeded 17 million lines for the first time in May, with a penetration of 35.9 lines per 100 inhabitants. According to the latest data published in CNMCData, 103,356 fibre optic lines to the home (FTTH) were added in May, up to a total of 14.2 million. 36.4% of the total FTTH lines correspond to Movistar, with a fleet of 5.2 million lines.
Overall, 74.9% of the total lines are concentrated in Movistar, Orange (including Jazztel) and Vodafone (including Ono).
New mobile telephone lines totalled 237,251 in May, reaching 58.22 million (3.1% more than a year ago). Movistar, Orange and Vodafone have 71.4% of the total mobile lines in the market.
Mobile portability registered 519,971 changes, which is 0.7% less than in the same month of 2022.
Operators generally registered a positive portability balance, while Vodafone, Orange, Movistar and Grupo MÁSMOVIL presented negative balances.
Mobile broadband voice lines closed the month of May 2023 with a total of 50.42 million lines, 1.6% more than in the same month of 2022. This means that 87% of mobile lines already had, at that time, Internet access.
In May, 24,321 fixed lines were lost. The month closed with a total of 17.95 million lines. 128,723 fixed numbers were ported, 10.1% less than in the same month of the previous year.
The month ended with 1,953,183 local NEBA lines. The NEBA indirect access service (FTTH and copper) accumulates 886,998 lines, of which 863,165 are fibre.
