The Spanish water reserve is at 45.8 percent of its total capacity. The reservoirs currently store 25,652 cubic hectometres (hm³) of water, which has decreased by 427 cubic hectometres in the last week (0.8 percent of the current total capacity of the reservoirs).

Rainfall has been abundant on the Mediterranean slope in the last week, and has affected the Atlantic slope to a lesser extent. The maximum has been produced in Pamplona with 37.6 mm (37.6 l/m²).
Meanwhile, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), under the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), has published its climate balance for the month of June 2023, in which it highlights that the month was clearly rainier than expected, and also warmer.
PRECIPITATION
The month of June was very humid in terms of rainfall, with an average rainfall value over mainland Spain of 67.2 mm, a value that represents 210% of the normal value for the month (reference period: 1991-2020). It was thus the fourth wettest month of June since the beginning of the series in 1961, behind 1988, 1992 and 2010, and was, therefore, the second wettest in the 21st century. In the Canary Islands it was the wettest month of June since 1961, mainly as a result of the passage of the Óscar storm.
June was humid to very humid throughout the territory, becoming extremely humid in parts of the interior of the peninsula and the Canary Islands. It has only been dry in a narrow strip of the Catalan coast and isolated points in the Balearic Islands.
The highest daily rainfall recorded at the main observatories corresponded to Hondarribia/Malkarroa, which recorded 55.7 mm on the 21st; Lugo/airport with 55.6 mm on the 12th; Teruel, which registered 52.2 mm on 3rd; Cáceres with 49 mm registered on the 8th, which constitutes the highest value of its series; Gijón registered 47.6 mm on the 13th and Santiago de Compostela/airport with 44.7 mm on the 3rd. Regarding the total rainfall for the month, among the main stations, the 178.4 mm of Soria stand out; the 174.4 mm accumulated in Lugo/airport and the 156.6 mm in Teruel. In all three cases it was the rainiest June in the series.
Despite the rainfall recorded throughout the month of June, mainland Spain as a whole continued in a situation of long-term meteorological drought at the end of the month. The southwest and northeast of the peninsula were the most affected areas. Long-term drought refers to the low rainfall recorded during the three years prior to the last month and began in December 2022.
TEMPERATURES
The month of June was overall warm, with an average temperature over mainland Spain of 21.1 °C, a value that is 1.0 °C above the average for this month (reference period: 1991-2020). It was the ninth warmest June since the series began in 1961, and also the ninth warmest in the 21st century. The eleven warmest months of June in the series belong to the 21st century.
June was extremely warm in coastal areas of Galicia and the Bay of Biscay, very warm in the rest of the peninsular northwest, in the southwest and in the Mediterranean coastal areas, while it was warm or normal in the rest of mainland Spain. In the Balearic Islands it had a very warm character, while in the Canary Islands it showed a highly variable character, being very warm or extremely warm in low areas, and warm or normal in areas of higher altitude.
The highest temperatures were observed in the warm episode at the end of the month, standing out among the main observatories the 43.7 °C of Morón de la Frontera, the 42.6 °C of Córdoba/airport, the 42.1 °C of Jerez de la Frontera/airport and 42.0 °C in Seville/airport, all values measured on the 26th. The highest temperature in a month of June since the beginning of the series.
Regarding the minimum temperatures, among the main stations, the 4.8 °C of Izaña registered on the 1st, the 5.5 °C of Puerto de Navacerrada on the 2nd, the 7.6 °C of León on the 30th, and the 7.7 °C of Valladolid/airport measured on 2nd.
