The Third Section of the Provincial Court of Valencia will begin to hear evidence from today, Wednesday, in the case of a woman who allegedly defrauded a childhood friend of more than 16,000 euro by making her believe that she would represent her divorce process, when she never practiced as a lawyer or was registered.
The public prosecution, which is asking for a six-year sentence, maintains that in 2020 the defendant told the victim, who had been her schoolmate, that she was taking over her legal representation in the procedure.
During that year and the following year, she asked for up to 16,700 euro to supposedly pay court fees, bonds and other expenses.
The injured party, who fully trusted the woman, transferred the money to her with the conviction that they were necessary payments, always according to the prosecutor’s indictment, but the defendant did not conduct the necessary steps in the process, which generated the victim serious problems for which she was convicted of a crime of child abduction.
A second woman also intervened in the matter, who identified herself as an assistant to the main defendant, whom the Prosecutor’s Office also considers the author of a continuous crime of fraud for which four years in prison and a fine are requested.
