The Spanish Air and Space Force is preparing the framework for a new contract for the maintenance of ejector seats in aircraft.
Specifically, the 24.2-million-euro contract, is for the ejection seats in F-5 trainers, F-18 fighters, the C101 jets operated by the Patrulla Aguila, and the PC-21 training aircraft.
The current contract expires in 2024, and this new one will be a replacement to guarantee the “continuity of the supply of spare parts and services for the maintenance of the ejection seats”.
The British company, Martin Baker, Aircraft Company Ltd is the main manufacturer of ejector seats and have been providing the service so far. They currently supply seats to 93 air forces worldwide, and in 2022 credited themselves with saving 7,674 lives.
