Barcelona Metro stations reopen after a month of works

Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) plans to open the Barceloneta and Ciutadella-Vila Olímpica stations on L4 of the Barcelona metro today, Tuesday, as reported by Deputy Mayor Laia Bonet.

The works on the six-kilometre section between Bogatell and Verdaguer are maintaining the “scheduled pace” without any delay. For this reason, TMB plans to start the second and final phase of the works that renew the section between Barceloneta and Verdaguer on the same Tuesday and finish it on August 25, as planned from the beginning.

EXTEND LINES

Regarding the extension of L4 to Sagrera and of L1 and L3 to Badalona, ​​Bonet has stated that priority is now given to “maintenance of the network beyond the need to extend it”, although she has expressed his commitment to the extension projects. “We want this metro map to be expanded, therefore, we are asking the Generalitat to address one of the commitments in the Budget agreement in Parliament,” Bonet explained.

SECOND STAGE

For this second phase, TMB plans to continue reinforcing the service on the rest of the metro lines, increasing the frequency on all lines except the one affected, with a higher offer of between 6% and 12%.

In the second phase, the shuttle bus service will also continue, covering the new section affected for an interval of about four minutes, and the maximum number of buses that the capacity of the streets can absorb will be put into circulation.

ALTERNATIVES AND RECOMMENDATIONS

TMB maintains the recommendation to take the regular bus lines that operate in this area and that will also continue to be reinforced with more vehicles: 6, V19 and V21, as well as the AMB, B20 and B25 lines, to travel between Poblenou and Urquinaona; and a special bus service for people with reduced mobility between Verdaguer and Joanic will continue to be available.
