The third heatwave of this summer has started and although in general the high temperatures have not stopped in a large part of Spain, this episode of heat also covers parts of the north. Some cities could even reach record numbers of up to 47ºC maximum.
According to the predictions of the State Meteorological Agency, Aemet, weather warnings were activated due to a significant risk due to high temperatures in areas of Extremadura, Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha on Monday. On Tuesday, areas of the Community of Madrid, Castilla y León and Galicia were added, and today, which could be the hottest day of the heat wave, predictably, the orange notice will affect eleven autonomous communities.

In this sense, Rubén Del Campo, AEMET spokesperson, anticipates that Wednesday will probably be the warmest day of the heatwave, since temperatures will once again rise in a general way and will do so notably in the northern and eastern thirds. peninsular, due to the arrival of winds from the south and southwest.
“The thermometers will reach extraordinarily high values in the north of the Peninsula,” warns the spokesman, who stresses that in Bilbao they could touch 39 or 40ºC, the same as in “traditionally cool” cities such as Soria or Burgos where it is “probable” that for the first time once they reach 40ºC.
That same day, they could also reach 40ºC in the south of Galicia and on the northern plateau, in other areas of the northern plateau and in the central zone, such as in Madrid, which on Wednesday could reach 40 to 42ºC and that would mean an absolute record in the Autonomous Community.
In the southern plateau this figure will be exceeded and, for example, cities such as Albacete, Toledo or Ciudad Real will be around 42 to 44ºC and he does not rule out that in the interior of Andalusia they will exceed 45ºC in points of the Guadalquivir and the province of Jaén. In addition, in Córdoba the thermometers could mark 47ºC, which would be another record for this city.
