The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued a special warning for adverse phenomena before the arrival of a new heatwave, the fourth this summer, which will affect the Balearic Islands and a large part of the peninsula as of today, Sunday, especially the northeast quadrant and the basins of the great rivers.
This situation will probably continue until Wednesday the 23rd.
Monday and Tuesday will be the days that are expected to record the highest temperatures, which will reach or exceed 40ºC in large areas of the southwestern and northeastern quadrants of the peninsula and 38ºC in the interior of the peninsula.
Mallorca and the south of Galicia, without ruling out that they also extend to points in the southeast.
It is probable that the decreases will become general as of Thursday, more intensely in the northern half, which would end the heatwave episode, although temperatures will continue to be high in the valleys of the southwest of the peninsula and in the depressions of the northeast.
