The Guardia Civil arrested four people in Valencia dedicated to stealing high-end vehicles on request throughout the country.
The detainees received the order for the vehicles to be stolen, with make and model, to be located by the most exclusive residential areas in the country. Once they were found, they illegally installed a GPS geolocation device to find out the owner’s routine and control the vehicle at all times.
Once the detainees knew the movements, they took advantage of the ideal moment to steal it. To do this, they operated equipped with a multitude of electronic and mechanical devices such as frequency inhibitors and opening systems that rendered the alarm systems useless.
After the vehicle was stolen, it was parked for several days and in different areas in order to check that it did not have any location system installed by the owner. After the “cooling off” period, it was deposited in a secure garage.
Subsequently, the vehicle was masked for sale on the international illicit market. To do this, the organisation installed fake number plates, prepared false documentation associated with those plates and programmed opening keys with the unofficial anagram of the vehicle brand to facilitate its sale.
Investigators have carried out three house searches in the towns of Bellreguard, Daimús and Gandia (Valencia) where false vehicle documentation, electronic devices used for theft, number plates, mobile phones, geolocation devices, device detectors, programming consoles, OBD connectors, frequency inhibitors, SIM cards with fictitious identities, cocaine and 13,000 euro in cash, among others, were found and seized.
Finally, the investigation has culminated in the arrest of four men between the ages of 30 and 68. They are charged with the crimes of belonging to a criminal organisation, theft of high-end vehicles, document falsification, against industrial property, discovery and disclosure of secrets, and drug trafficking. Likewise, 12 crimes have been clarified.
Three vehicles have been recovered and the theft of another four, all of them high-end, has been prevented. The value of the recovered effects is valued at approximately 1,150,000 euro.
Thanks to this operation, this criminal group has been completely dismantled and all its members have been arrested. The operation has been carried out by agents of the Gandía Judicial Police Team of the Guardia Civil.
The proceedings have been delivered to the Court of First Instance and Instruction Number 2 of Denia and the imprisonment of the four detainees has been decreed.
