The trial will begin on Wednesday in the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Palma against a man – 44 years old at the time of the events – accused of beating another man and running him over with his vehicle in Cala Ratjada, Capdepera.
The Prosecutor requests four years in prison for the perpetrator, a five-year restraining order on the victim and up to 15,000 euro in compensation for the injuries caused.
According to the indictment, at 7:30 a.m. on September 15, 2018, the accused met the victim at the door of a bar in the aforementioned town and, without saying a word, got out of the vehicle he was driving and began to hit him all over the body.
Later, he got back into the car he had gotten out of, and ran over the victim in his vehicle, then fleeing the scene, leaving the man lying on the ground. As a result of these attacks, the victim suffered a fracture of the malleolus in the right fibula, an injury to the left knee and a sprain to the left shoulder.
For his recovery, the victim required surgical treatment, with three stitches in the wound, the placement of a plaster boot on the ankle and rehabilitation for 291 days, 32 of moderate damage and the rest basic, in addition to post-traumatic osteoarthritis and aesthetic damage as sequelae.
The Public Ministry understands that these events constitute a crime of injuries, which is why, along with the prison sentence, a restraining order is requested from his home or workplace of 200 metres and compensation of 11,000 euro for the injuries, 2,000 for the consequence and 2,000 for the aesthetic damage.
