The second section of the Pontevedra Provincial Court will hear evidence today, Thursday, in the trial against a woman accused of trying to murder her ex-boyfriend in the Pontevedra municipality of Ponteareas, for whom the Prosecutor’s Office requests eleven years in prison.
As stated in the document from the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant had a romantic relationship with the victim that ended at the beginning of December 2022. At that time, he informed her of his desire to end the relationship and the defendant did not accept this decision, beginning to send him “multiple audio and text messages” through WhatsApp to try to “move his will and get him to resume his romantic relationship with her.”
In these messages, the Prosecutor’s Office continues, the defendant told her partner that “from love to hate there is a step” and that “he should prepare, that what would come would be very expensive.”
Thus, on December 26, the accused showed up at the victim’s home under the pretext of having a conversation in person about the romantic situation. Once at the home, the Prosecutor’s Office brief states, the defendant asked him if he would return to her, to which he replied in the negative.
Next, “with the excuse of grabbing a glass of water,” she went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife with a 10-centimetre blade that she “hid when she entered the living room again,” where the victim was watching television. In this way, the accused, “with the intention of causing her death and taking advantage of the fact that he was not paying attention to her at that moment,” pulled out the knife and cut his neck “from side to side.”
Upon feeling the cut, explains the Prosecutor’s Office, the victim sat up and “turned towards the defendant”, who “not being able to continue cutting the neck” began to force the knife “in the direction of the chest with the intention of stabbing him, causing the death”.
Due to these facts, the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that it is appropriate to impose on the defendant the sentence of ten years in prison for the commission of the crime of attempted murder and the sentence of one year and five months in prison for the crime of harassment.
