Amnesty plan to be presented

The leader of Sumar, and second vice president of the acting Government, Yolanda Díaz, stated that she will present the opinion of her party’s jurists today on “the fit of the amnesty” in the legal system.

In statements, Díaz also pointed out that she shares “her Catalan agenda with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez”, and that there is “coordination” between what they both do and the places they visit.

Regarding the amnesty for those prosecuted for the Catalan independence process, the leader of Sumar explained that the proposal that she will present on Tuesday has been prepared by a group of around twenty jurists.

Díaz urges Sánchez to speak clearly. He has also indicated, regarding the fact that the acting President of the Government does not directly use the word “amnesty”, that “we must speak clearly, above all to respect citizens.”

She has specified, however, that “citizens are smart and know what we are talking about” even though a certain word is not mentioned, and has added that “beyond words, what the President of the Government is expressing is the scope of a new time in which we want the political conflict to end once and for all.”

Regarding the demonstration against the amnesty that took place on Sunday in Barcelona and which had the support of PP and Vox, the leader of Sumar has stressed that she will never be seen “setting one part of the country on fire against another”.
