Drugs gang members in court

Published

on

The Provincial Court of Pontevedra will hold the trial on Tuesday and Wednesday against four residents of Vilagarcía de Arousa for crimes of drug trafficking, membership in a criminal group and illicit possession of weapons.

Specifically, after the investigations carried out by the Guardia Civil, the “sustained activity” of the accused was revealed, during 2020, in which they collected and sold narcotic substances.

To do this, they not only provided the substances themselves that they later distributed, but also others used as precursors to adulterate and prepare narcotics.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office document, to carry out this illicit activity, the accused had a property in Vilagarcía de Arousa and a storage room in the same town.

The Prosecutor’s Office requests nine years in prison for three of the accused for a crime against public health and seven years and six months for another. In addition, the four defendants face a fine, each of them, of more than one million euro.

Regarding the crime of integration into a criminal group, for two of the accused they request two years in prison and for the remaining 18 months in prison.

In addition, three of the accused are charged with the crime of illegal possession of weapons for which the Prosecutor’s Office requests, for each of them, sentences of two years in prison.
