Drug dealers and document fraudster in court

At 10:00 a.m. and in the Third Section of the Provincial Court of Cantabria, a man and a woman will be tried for the possible sale and distribution of cocaine, marijuana and hashish in the city of Santander.

Police officers have testified observing them carrying out such activity on different dates between January and March 2022. In April, the man was intercepted when returning from Madrid, and in a suitcase he kept hashish and cocaine.

In the search of both their homes, 1,380 euro from drug trafficking were found, as well as marijuana and hashish, which totalled 6.5 kilograms.

For the Prosecutor’s Office, the two accused are perpetrators of a crime against public health of substances that cause serious harm, deserving of six years in prison and a 60,000 euro fine for the man, as a repeat offender, and four years in prison and a 40,000 euro fine for the woman.

In a separate case, starting at 11:45 a.m., a person accused of allegedly presenting a false document in court to achieve a favourable ruling for his claims will be prosecuted.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant filed a lawsuit in 2018 against another person to demand compliance with a contract. In that procedure he presented a sworn statement supposedly signed by the defendant in which rights were recognised in favour of the now accused.

However, the court of first instance dismissed the claim when it was proven, thanks to an expert report, that the sworn statement was not authentic.

For the Prosecutor’s Office, the facts constitute a crime of falsehood in conjunction with another of procedural fraud, for which it requests one year and three months in prison.
