Rain still not in abundance in Spain

Whereas many areas are still suffering drought in Spain, and locations such as the Vega Baja seeing over 100 days without significant rain through what would normally be one of the wettest times of the year, in general terms, rain has started to increase in the last report period.

The national average value of accumulated rainfall from the beginning of the hydrological year (October 1, 2023) until the 19th December, is estimated at 206 l/m2, which represents around 3% more than the normal value corresponding to said period (199 l/m2).

The accumulated quantities are below their normal values ​​in the eastern third of the Peninsula, especially in the eastern part of the peninsula, in both archipelagos, points of the Cantabrian coast and in most of Andalusia.

On the other hand, they exceed normal values ​​in the western half of the Peninsula and in the western half of the Pyrenees.
