Almería drugs boats gang arrested
The Guardia Civil, through the Organised Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA), arrested 18 people within the framework of Operation “Eagle” accused of the alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organisation, drug trafficking, illicit possession of weapons, and smuggling.
The operation began in October 2022 when the Guardia Civil managed to intervene in a discharge of more than 1,000 kilograms of hashish on the beach known as Perdigal, in the Almeria neighbourhood of Costacabana.
It is not until March 2023 when a second landing took place in the area of the University of Almería in which the agents arrest seven people. On this occasion, 1,700 kilograms of hashish were seized.
With the progress of the investigation of this group, the Guardia Civil has carried out five searches and inspections in the towns of Roquetas de Mar, Vícar and Almería in which 27,000 euro in cash, three kilograms of hashish sample, a short weapon, a frequency wave inhibitor, several mobile and satellite phones as well as numerous documents were all recovered.
The organisation was in charge of contacting the members who were in North Africa and who were in charge of transporting the drugs in boats to the coast of Almería. There, groups of 10 people were waiting for them to put the bales into cargo vehicles that were later transported to the “kindergartens” for distribution.
