Missing Child Movie Begins Filming in Torrevieja
Anybody wishing to take a dip in Torrevieja’s municipal swimming pool earlier this week may have been disappointed and had to resort to the rather chilly Mediterranean Sea, as the pool was closed to the public for the recording of a scene for a feature film.
The film, Hora y veinte, is a thriller directed by Marc Romero and starring Macarena Gómez, Roberto álamo and Emma Suárez based on the unsolved disappearance since 2000 of the child Jonathan Vega.
The protagonist of the film, played by Gómez, is a brave and hard-working woman who will stop at nothing to locate her son, little Iván, when he gets lost on Christmas Eve afternoon in a shopping centre.
The cast is completed by Boré Buika, Ciro Miró and Alex Sorian Brown, among others, and represents the leap to acting on the big screen of the popular singer Álex Ubago.
In a statement from the production companies El Orgullo Producciones, La Cochera, Sorenfilms, La Raíz, Shift Dif and Corax Films, the director has highlighted the action elements of a film based on the 5 percent of cases of disappearances of minors, in which there is no happy ending.
“Cases like that of Jonathan Vega, who was kidnapped in Madrid in 2000,” continued Romero, who recalled that the little boy’s mortal remains “appeared six months later” without anyone knowing “how he died or who killed him”.
The filming that began on Tuesday in the swimming pool continued in different locations around Torrevieja until Friday, including the La Mata natural park, and the lagoons, after which it moves to Martos (Jaén), where the recording will continue.
