The influx to shopping centres in Spain registered an increase of 5.7% in December compared to the same month in 2022, according to the monthly index of Sensormatic Solutions, the Johnson Controls brand focused on solutions for the retail sector. As a result, the total accumulated in the last 12 months reaches an increase of 7.4%.
In Portugal, the situation was similar. Visits to Portuguese shopping centres experienced an increase of 4.3% in December compared to the previous year, with a cumulative increase of 7.0% in the last 12 months.
This increase in footfall at shopping centres in December is of course related to the holidays. The preparation and purchase of gifts, combined with free time during holidays and school vacations, but the same situation applies to the 2022 figures.
