The Guardia Civil, within the framework of operation Archivador, arrested 40 people for sending narcotic substances through courier companies.
The investigation began in the Port Area and cargo terminals of Seville Airport when the use of this type of company for the shipment of drugs, mainly hashish and marijuana, was detected, leaving from Andalusia to other points in the national geography and abroad.
The modus operandi consisted of hiding the drug inside the packages, between clothing, toys, food, appliances or other objects or even mixing it among them to make it difficult for investigators to detect.
The interception of the shipments has resulted in the seizure of 93 cannabis plants, 593 kilos of marijuana flowering tops, 943 grams of cocaine, 79 kilos of hashish, 18 grams of heroin and 5 kilos of MDMA.
In addition, during the operation several criminal organisations and groups dedicated to the cultivation, production, purchase, sale and distribution of narcotic substances to different countries were dismantled, as well as the seizure of seven high-end vehicles, numerous items related to crimes and €126,470 in cash.
The investigation culminated in the arrest of 40 people and 14 investigated, being related to said arrests, as being responsible, on the one hand, for crimes against public health (drug trafficking) and, on the other, for belonging to a criminal organisation, money laundering, smuggling and fraud of electricity, all made available to different Courts of Instruction in the province of Seville.
