The Guardia Civil has located a 13-year-old minor who had been forcibly married and was 12 weeks pregnant.
In the operation, both the minor’s husband and both parents were arrested. The victim is pregnant for the second time after a previous abortion due to malformations in the foetus.
The operation has been developed within the actions that the Guardia Civil has been carrying out to eradicate human trafficking, when they learned through the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office that a girl of only thirteen years of age had suffered a voluntary interruption of pregnancy due to a serious malformation in the foetus.
For this reason, the agents began efforts to find out the current status of the minor, as well as to locate her, finding out that the girl was pregnant again.
The agents were able to verify that the minor had been captured through social networks in March 2023 with the purpose of contracting an arranged marriage with a man residing in the town of Moral de Calatrava (Ciudad Real).
For this reason, the protocol for the abandonment of minors was activated as a matter of urgency, with the Social Welfare Department of the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha taking charge of the minor.
The man has already been arrested for a crime of human trafficking due to forced marriage and for a crime of sexual assault. Likewise, the parents of the minor and the parents of the man have been arrested for another crime of trafficking in human beings for the purposes of forced marriage, arranged child marriage.
