On Wednesday, the Valencia Provincial Court will judge a lawyer accused of a continuing crime of forgery of an official document in conjunction with a continuing crime of fraud for allegedly “fraudulently registering immigrant workers in two companies managed by him in the city of Valencia in exchange for financial compensation.”
According to the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community, “all this with the aim of these workers being able to pay contributions for a sufficient period of time to receive unemployment benefits.”
The events occurred between 2007 and 2010 and the prosecution is initially requesting a five-year prison sentence and a fine for the accused.
According to the same sources, eight of these workers will be tried along with the lawyer, for whom the Public Prosecutor’s Office is provisionally requesting sentences ranging from fines to two years and nine months in prison for crimes of falsifying official documents.
