According to the latest report issued by Corporación Reservas Estratégicas de Productos Petrolíferos, during the month of May, net imports of natural gas increased by 1.4% compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 25,443 GWh.
By geographical area, Algeria is the main supplier of natural gas to Spain (35.1% of the total), followed by Russia (21.9%) and the USA (16.8%).
In year-on-year terms, in the last twelve months, net imports decreased by 9.4%.
As for exports, they decreased by 60.2% compared to May 2023, reaching 3,815 GWh. 53.8% is exported through gas pipeline and the remaining 46.2% as LNG.
France was the main destination of natural gas sent from Spain (25.1%), followed by China (23.7%).
On an interannual basis, exports have decreased by 37% over the last twelve months.
