According to the information provided by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, and the military emergency services, UME, since the beginning of the year until July 7, the forest area affected by fires has risen to 22,541 hectares (ha), which represents a decrease of 62% compared to the same period in 2023 (60,199 ha) and 43% compared to the average of the last 10 years (39,714).
In total, 6 large fires have been recorded (affected area greater than 500 ha), a figure lower than the average of the last 10 years (7) and that of 2023 (15).
On the other hand, the fire declared last Friday, July 12, in Cerro Muriano (Córdoba) has been declared stabilised.
Most of the country is still on the highest of risk alerts for fires, and so vigilance from everyone is called for.
