The Guardia Civil has carried out its first flight using sustainable fuel thanks to the first batch of renewable fuel produced by Repsol and used by the Guardia Civil’s Air Service.
Thanks to the multi-energy company, the Guardia Civil has successfully completed its first flight using sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The first flight of an aircraft using 30% SAF as its total fuel has taken off from the Guardia Civil Air Service facilities in Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid.
The biofuel batch was manufactured by Repsol from biomass and meets the quality requirements established by international specifications. In addition, it has passed the tests carried out in recent months by Repsol and the Guardia Civil Air Service.
Although the use of ecological fuel is not mandatory for State aircraft, this advance represents a further step towards the sustainability and decarbonisation of the air sector that the Guardia Civil is seeking with the use of sustainable fuel in the aircraft of the Guardia Civil Air Service.
