Spain’s largest premium camping operator, Alannia Resorts, has been officially acquired by the European Camping Group (ECG), a major player in the European outdoor holiday market. The move represents a significant shift in the Costa Blanca’s tourism and leisure infrastructure, as ECG continues its strategic expansion across Southern Europe.
Alannia, known for its large-scale family-friendly resorts in Guardamar del Segura, Crevillent, and Costa Dorada, is popular with both domestic holidaymakers and international visitors—particularly from Britain, Germany, and France. The resorts offer fully-equipped bungalows, swimming complexes, wellness centres, and organised entertainment programmes that blur the line between traditional camping and resort-style holidays.
The acquisition was backed by PAI Partners and a Middle Eastern sovereign wealth fund, reflecting growing investor interest in southern Spain’s year-round holiday potential. ECG already owns and operates more than 400 campsites under the Homair and Eurocamp brands across France, Italy, Croatia, and Portugal. The purchase of Alannia solidifies its foothold in Spain, one of Europe’s fastest-growing glamping and resort camping markets.
According to industry analysts, the move could lead to an expansion of services and facilities at existing Costa Blanca sites, with potential new developments under review. Local tourism officials have welcomed the investment, citing job creation, facility upgrades, and international marketing benefits.
However, some community voices are urging caution. “We welcome improvements but want to ensure that the unique environmental footprint of the Vega Baja region is respected,” said one resident near Guardamar.
The acquisition positions the Costa Blanca as a key growth zone in the evolving European camping industry, blending affordable family holidays with high-end resort amenities. Visitors to Alannia resorts this summer are unlikely to see immediate changes, but new branding and service enhancements are expected to roll out by spring 2026.
